Tiles

This piece was inspired by The Mordiford Dragon legend based in Mordiford, Hereford. Which follows the story of a young girl who unknowingly raises a dragon from a hatchling. I shaped a wooden base for this sculpture as I intend for it to be wall mounted.

The idea I had behind this piece was to revitalize the damaged angel misericord found in St. Laurence's Church. The swirls added to the lower half of her garment was my unique touch.

Thrown Vessels

Whimsical Woodland Critters

These miniature sculptures and acessories were a part of a collection of handcrafted items sold at a local storefront in Herefordshire. As part of this collection, I sculpted a total of 13 items including 7 miniatures and 6 necklaces. During this I handled marketing, presentation, time management and also volunteered as a cashier for the duration of the pop-up market.

    Glass Fusion

This piece was inspired by the work of Helen Grierson; a glass fusion artist. What really drew me in about particular aspects of her work was its connection to Folklore and witches. My piece on the final slide depicts the Lunar Hare, with a tale following witches drinking the juice of harebells to transform themselves into hares and travel across the Northumbrian countryside unnoticed.

A "Sealed" Deal with the Sea

      The Collection

The title of this collection is a play on words, referencing the tale of a selkie Woman who made a divine "deal" with the moon to grant her freedom in the form of a seal body. Through this collection I illuminate the selkie's tale through visual storytelling, demonstrating the tight knit bond a selkie has with the ocean and her seal attribute. It is said that selkies gather under the light of the full moon to shed their sealskins and while the moon is often associated with feminine energy, the sea embodies freedom; its vastness being a vessel for exploration. The selkie tile evokes deep emotions of devotion and contentment for a world under the sea, and resonates closely with the female experience.
