As a passionate artist, I am always looking for opportunity to create. I am most intrigued by creatures or environments that stretch the boundaries of what we understand to be nature. Therefore, my work is often influenced by folklore and mythology! In addition to this, I enjoy creating my own concepts, which continually feature a whirlwind of whimsy and wonder.
This starry deer was part of a live breif, set in my second year of College called Pop Shop. It involved us creating a desirable line of handcrafted items to sell in a local shopfront. This particular piece was inspired by the arrangement of stars in the night sky, and the relation that deer have to certain astronomical phenomena.
This little owl was one of many ceramic sculptures, that followed elements of whimsy being intertwined with woodland critters.
This piece was inspired by the work of Helen Grierson; a glass fusion artist. What really drew me in about particular aspects of her work was its connection to Folklore and witches. My piece on the left depicts the Lunar Hare, with a tale following witches drinking the juice of harebells to transform themselves into hares and travel across the Northumbrian countryside unnoticed.
Though the shape of the Owl itself is quite simple for this charm, I was able to bring it to life with just a few tiny details. It was part of a collection including both Tawny Owls and Barn Owls. driven by my love for these fascinating creatures.
This piece of resin art is what holds the memory of the place I grew up. capturing a still life scene of some pressed flowers I had collected from the cotswolds; my previous home, back when I lived there.
The audio for this short animatic was extracted from one of my favourite podcasts; The Magnus Archives. I wanted to illustrate exactly how I interpreted this scene with my own ideas of how these characters appear, as an extension of their voices and what I envisioned this setting, "The Lonely" looking like.
This short recording was my starting point for an animation project I one day hope to finish, influenced by my fascination with the Fae.
